Another Seizure.I faltered @ 10:54 a.m. on 06-30-02
Avi had another seizure around 2am Friday morning, she was released from the hospital yesterday evening. It hasn't even been a year since she had her first bebrile seizure. I didn't even know she was sick, just thought she had a cold.
She had been playing and running around most of the day. The only indication that she didn't feel well was her runny nose. She didn't feel hot or even warm, and she seemed fine when she went to bed.
Well she wakes up around 2am throwing up, and she was extremely hot. I started wiping her with a cold face cloth, and called my mom to come home. Well she was shivering and I thought she was cold, but she kept closing her eyes. She got this look on her face, not really pain, more like fear. That's when she started having a seizure.
The convulsions had stopped by the time we got to the hospital. They hooked her up to an IV, gave her some medicine, and put a catheter in. They sent me into the lobby while they did the spinal tap. When I came back in they said she is strong for her age, and put up a fight. By the time she was admitted and we got to her hospital room, her fever had gone down to 102, which is good because she was 106 when we got to the hospital.
By morning she felt more lively, and wanted to play. Unfortunately she couldn't do much because the IV was hooked to a machine the whole time we were there, and the machine was plugged into the wall. Poor baby couldn't even eat, they would only let her have pediolyte(sp?) and gaterade.
The docter said that febrile seizures tend to run in families, which is weird because neither Austin or I can think of anyone from either of our families that went though that. She also said that Avi will probably grow out of it. Yeah well I fucking hope so! I'm going to be freaked out everytime she has a cold. I was so scared that she would die.
Right now she is real happy to be home, she's running all over the place. I was scared last night to go to sleep because I was worried she would get another fever, but she was okay. She ended up waking up hyper at 5:30 in the morning, and jumped on my bed. I'm so glad my baby is okay.
Well gotta go for now, she want to color and I need to find some paper. Later.
